Acquire A Citroen C1 Race Car
To take part in The Scottish C1 Cup it is necessary to buy or rent a Citroën C1 race car. You can either build one for less than £3,500 including a roll cage and all the necessary equipment needed to race, or directly purchase one from racecardirect.com, but this option would be more expensive. There are also an number of teams that will have cars available to rent for our inaugural season.
Approx. £3,500 _________________ http://www.youtube.com/user/andybalcairn/ to see how bad I drive!!! |

They certainly looked fun at the Race of Remembrance last year. Not that much slower than the Mini's and it would be good to start on the level playing field of all new drivers. Could be tempted _________________ R600 Dubaru

It’s intriguing particularly as what race drops? Combine s&s and classics? Can’t merge legends or ff, could be in with fiesta? _________________ http://www.youtube.com/user/andybalcairn/ to see how bad I drive!!! |

Curious as to why, when the whole technical regulations call for a standard vehicle apart from basic safety or durability concerns, they want to replace the wishbones, driveshafts and so on.... |

Interesting.... not sure what KH would be like in a car even slower than a mini!
They looked to provide nice and close racing in endurance events so should be action packed in a sprint races.
Haven’t read the tech regs... but what’s the reason for changing wishbones/shafts? And change from OE to what? _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC

As I understand it, the 'uprated' wishbones allow for extra camber and castor camber going on the shpeel on the C1 website - think the driveshafts are longer to accommodate this.
"Wishbone extended to give 3° camber and 4.5° castor. Manufactured from new parts and includes new rubber bushes and ball joint."
Does seem like an odd thing to offer as an option. You either run OE, or you run these modified ones supplied by series organiser. Nothing else permitted.
My concern would be that an 8 lap race is pretty short. I also don't imagine overtaking to be very easy in such low powered cars - could maybe end up a bit of a procession - would imagine if you get yourself on the inside on a fairly safe defensive line, its going to be very hard for anyone to come past you. |

Be interesting to see what kinda pace they do run at though. Have seen it mentioned a couple of times that they wont be far behind mini pace, but I'm not so sure.
Three cylinder 1.0, 67bhp and about the same lb/ft...... road tyres.........
I'd be massively surprised to see them lapping under 70 seconds. But then that probably totally misses the point of what the series is meant to be about.
If it weren't for new house and a wedding needing paid for this year, i'd be building one 100%. |

Interesting but imo 8 laps is not enough.
Reckon i would prefer to just build a mini and get in there with already a very decent grid. |

Can see rental options proving to be popular to begin with while folk get a taste for it - better way of gauging it rather than building a car and finding theres only a grid of 3 of you I suppose. |

Exactly this.
It's also a pretty clear indicator for me that one of the existing series is getting axed, either that or we'll see Sports & Saloons, Fiesta's, Hot Hatch merged into 1. The timetable is already under pressure.
Heard some chat on BMW's coming back. Can only assume that's under the Knockhill banner rather than SMRC given this new series.
Kinda disappointed that this is seen as the way forward for SMRC rather than focusing on improving existing series that need some tlc. _________________ MD Racing
