Looking forward to my first SLS event in the Clio (Class F), just doing Saturday, just fitted brand new tyres as my track day tyres (A048's) not eligible, what would be your advice in terms of using the SLS format to get the tyres bedded in properly? Based on a bit of web research, consensus on bedding in track tyres seems to be bringing them up to temp gently over a few laps and then do a couple of hot laps and then come in and let them cool off so thinking I'd be best running at the back of Group 1 warm-up to allow me to do the bedding in routine and then coming in early so as not to bugger the tyres on their first session, does that sound a good plan?

Minis - just drive it like you stole it Laughing

SLS in Impreza... First lap taking it easy (greasy tyres)... build up to a decent pace making sure that you are getting heat into the tyre (not just the surface by wheelspinning etc). Do a few lap, come in bleed pressures down to hot target..... then go out again and do a couple more laps and decent pace.

Then try and let them fully cool down before you go out again for second session.

Second session - drive like you stole it.

Things to remember in SLS...

Tyres performance... keep it in mind when / if just pummelling round in the morning sessions.
Tyre warming - weaving side to side isnt the best way IMO. Use brakes

Cheers for the advice, all sounds good, easy enough getting heat into front tyres of Clio but weight distribution is so nose heavy that rears aren't going to get bedded in at proper temp on first session so think I'll swap front & rears for the next session and that should be them fully prep'd for qualy Very Happy

You might want to consider swapping them diagonally (if they are not directional), as the inside tyres wont do anywhere near as much work, nor generate heat. It seemed to work on the BTCC Subaru's

Dorward won the pro by dipping into the 52's.....52.9 iirc.

John won A but I can't remember the time

George won B with a low 55, maybe 55.5 at the worst.

I can't remember the rest off the top of my head.

It won't surprise you to hear I am still as high as a kite after a fantastic weekend. Even after a stupid off into the gravel at Clark's on Sunday. A huge thanks to Mark and his dad for jumping in to remove gravel and change wheels and tyres. I didn't have any personal help on Sunday and didn't even need to ask. That is what makes the competition for me even if there is no direct success. Thanks also to the widespread support and congratulations

Was a bit strange that one, with Quattro I was surprised it kept giving power to the passenger rear when it stepped out in the gravel. It was that quick a snap it's not surprising it caught you out.
