You should be able to drop more weight.
Is the battery as light as it can be? You could run a mega small Aliant (for example) lithium battery ~ 500grams.

Brake discs - If all solid steel, look at two piece options with an alloy bell. Good for about 1kg if all four corners are done.

What are the rear uprights from? If Sierra based then you could look at alloy bearing carriers. MNR do them for 80 for example.

Fuel tank - Could run a 1-2 gallon tank for SLS. The tank weight with reduced fuel to prevent surge could be worth a few KG's.

Is this Charlie Frasers's old car? I can't understand why it's as heavy as it is. My MNR comes in at 460kg. Granted my engine is quite a bit lighter but not hugely.

In normal circumstances I'd opt for the less weight option.

However, if you're thinking SLS/Knockhill specific, I'd opt for more grunt than less weight.

Yes it is Charlie's old car. it has a lightweight (though maybe not ultra lightweight)battery and a 3 gallon fuel tank.
I think I have a clear idea now what I will be doing over the winter which will probably be a mild increase in power and loss of weight
