Not looking at VBOX sectors, but using the SMART timing 3 sectors from the results....
Ideal times for R3
Warmup - (Actual - 55.593) - 15.825, 20.553, 18.420 = 54.798. Best speeds - SF - 129.551mph, S3 - na
Practice - no hot laps
Qualy - (Actual - 54.868) - 15.805, 20.202, 18.059 = 54.066. Best speeds - SF - 130.306mph, S3 - 109.653mph
Final - (Actual - 54.229) - 15.538, 20.225, 18.466 = 54.229. Best speeds - SF - 129.302mph, S3 - 109.653mph
IDEAL LAP FOR DAY - 53.799
As mentioned in the Write Up.... it was the first part of the lap that had made the time. I eased it round... losing about 0.4 on the last sector alone [/u] _________________ Impreza Race Car - SLS/SMRC

My report!
This was the car’s first time out since April. I managed a brief spanner check on Thursday but that was it, not even time to wash it. Being in the Pro Class this year really meant it was about personal times and comparisons with other similar cars. In particular Blair McConachie in his Caterham, who was often quicker than me in 2016.
Saturday round 3
Warm-up
With the weather good, warm-up was relaxed and I went out and enjoyed checking the car, and getting my eye in. I did a 56.4 without too much effort at the end. But I just can’t seem to get the hang of the reverse direction. I was still over braking for Clarks and my apex speed was embarrassingly low at times.

Practice
Practice was a bit more about procedure, lines and gear changes. It looks a bit of a messy session with me struggling to get a lap together, but the time taken out to experiment payed off later. 57.024 was the best official lap.

Qualifying
Qualifying went well. I knew the Kumhos peaked at about three laps, so the plan was to biuld up over three laps, and that's just what I did, getting a personal best on lap 3 of 55.520 – pleased with that! Unfortunately my VideoVbox was in the process of corrupting its scene and I didn’t record very good data, but after some IT surgery on the files I've I got it to work for the video.

Final
The final went OK with 56.568, but there was easily half a second lost at my Clark’s nemesis. That was a shame as it would have delivered a 3rd place. With the VBox now dead only the Go Pro

Sunday round 4
Warm-up
My drive up to Knockhill was in heavy rain and expected it to be wet from the word go. Surprisingly it was dry on arrival and it held off to the warm up. But, with a few drops of rain hitting my visor, I went for it. Unfortunately I had forgotten this was my first time in the clockwise direction with the longer diff and my normal gear changes meant the engine never really got going. By the sixth lap this was somewhat sorted but the tyres were passed their optimum and I had to settle for a 55.105. But that was the second quickest time of the session, and the whole day as it turned out. I was contemplating another hot lap when sadly Eric Holmes engine let go and the fluid (oil?)on the track stopped the session.

Practice
By the time the practice session started the heavens had opened and it was properly wet, however there was a pause in intensity of rain as session went out and I got close to my wet PB with a 1.03.009 as tyres started to get a little bit of heat in them.

Qually
Still a wet track but, with the rain easing and no standing water, there was a possibility that the tyres may get hot enough to switch on if I just keep pushing. It took all 14 laps, but managed to bring the times down to a wet PB of 1.01.150 . Credit must be given to the Titan diff, it was very confidence inspiring when the wheels are spinning at 110 mph. There was a time when that would have been a visit to the pit wall. It was a good result for the RWD Caterham, and also 2 seconds quicker than Blair in conditions where BHP didn’t really matter.

Final
When it is wet I am always nervous about the final as the speed difference between the four wheel drive cars can be high. On the out lap there was just too much water to heat the tyres without going off and I saw Ross Howie get incredibly close behind me. I knew it was inevitable he would catch me. The distraction and inevitable plunge up the inside approaching the hairpin was enough for me to ask for a re-run, which I was given. The second run was a slight improvement at 1.05.350 but not enough to change the order and my 4th place. I had expected Ross to get a re-run too, but for whatever reason he didn’t. But there was enough confusion for me to be temporally awarded the 3rd place trophy, but I had to hand it back later.

Overall I was pleased with the weekend and my times where up there with some of my best. In particular, I was pleased to be quicker than Blair in most sessions. You could argue that is because of 1C tyres, and perhaps it is, but with an average overall session position of 7th, it is punching above its power to weight this year. _________________ R600 Dubaru
