My GP initially wanted 160, as he thought it was the same as the HGV medical, but when I explained it's basically just a urine test (for diabetes, presumably) and some tick-boxes to confirm no history of heart problems, epilepsy etc, we agreed on 50.

My HGV medical costs me an occasional dinner. My mate ( and Best Man) is a GP

Mine was free from my GP. Booked an appointment to have a couple of other things checked out then went "oh yeah, I've got this form as well..."

At that point I was told I was meant to book at least a double slot for a medical and it should be 50, bit of "oh, whoops, shit, kinda need it for tomorrow..." and I was sent away to piss in a jar whilst he saw the next patient then finished up my eyesight and blood pressure etc Laughing

I recall there being a list they had to run through in the pack from the MSA.

Yes,
Minis, Fiestas, BMWs all need to have the wire loop style towing eyes for this season. Reason behind this is the number of failures of the fabric straps during towing and recovery operations

With regards to medical, speak to Knockhill as the doctor at the medical centre can do it. If I remember I paid 20 to him a couple of years back, where as my local GP wanted 120

Lowell - Fee and I used Rosemount Medical Centre - 60odd from memory.

They just wanted to see a copy of the form first to see how in depth it was

I was lucky enough to get the doctor to sign my form while I was doing my offshore medical. When I got it done before at Victoria street medical it was 60.

The fabric straps are incredibly strong, presumably they were mounted incorrectly rather than be straps themselves failing?

most of the issues i saw were the fabric straps attached with poor mountings from 10mm bolts to glorified cable ties. If they had been attached to a solid point using suitable fixings like a good heavy 3 tonne rated shackle then they wouldnt have failed. Without wishing to sound like I am trying to stir it shouldnt the scroots be checking the tow straps/eyes. I know you guys are up to your eyes in it but any towing point failing during recovery is a major pain

Andy,

the Blue Book specifies two at each end, so a bridle can be used for towing.

Alan,
what we checked complied with what the regulations required. There is a limit on what we can check on each car at pre-event Scrutineering. The new regs are much better, specify mountings and require two loops, so the load will be spread.

Sports and Saloons?

Noted that the wire type tow hook is "recommended"within the bluebook.
