Estimated Power around 200-210 BHP. (The original English "Mini Challenge" spec cars were approx 245BHP. We have selected a more detuned level for longevity and reliability)

Cheers David

From experience with the MX5s which also had a slightly different spec to the English series for "longevity and reliability" this had an effect on the up take as guys wanted to have the option to race in the English series as well.

Granted the MX5s had more issues than that but I would think that having the same spec would be beneficial.

Like the sound of it, have already been looking online for cooper s to have as a road car, and see what happens in the series.

For now will continue the development road Ive taken for the MX5, but good to know there will be other 1.6 FI out there Very Happy

interesting point there crayons, very interesting and i know taelor shand raced cooper S down south. I think these cars would still be allowed in the open class but tyres would be different.

OPEN CLASS
Introduced in 2016, the Open class is the opportunity for drivers who already have racing MINIs built to other specifications, to join the MINI CHALLENGE family and enjoy the facilities, hospitality and TV coverage.
Open Class MINIís include: Ex CHALLENGE R53 & R56 variants, European specification cars, Track Day Trophy MINIs and SUPER COOPER Cup Cars.
Running on Dunlop Direzza dry tyres costs are kept down, whilst safety is enhanced through the use of wet tyres to enable drivers to safely race even with standing water.
Power is limited to 180 per ton, meaning that equality can be achieved and maintained without excessive engine costs.
In other areas regulations are relatively open allowing drivers and teams to enhance car performance through engineering, as well as driving. This makes the Open class a very different challenge to the other classes.
Cars can be built or purchased from as little as £10,000, meaning that on a performance per £ basis the Open class is second to none.

Its Was low 59s yesterday for the Single Session We tested Slicks.

Car is a lot of fun.. Now it has power, a close ratio box, more powerful brakes and a new level of grip.

Plan to have 2 DSR cars at next test day and Hopefully Oly's own Race Car.

Test day has generated a lot of positive interest.. Hope We can attract some new people into the S Class and retain those leaving the Normally Aspirated class.

i would say moggs but i feel that the leftovers from last year with kyle reid could prove problematic. john Duncan will be strong but i reckon dom wheatley as outside bet - go team \0/
