Cars infront should move over if they are slower than you though !

This isn't a race, it's a track day where you can drive high speeds legally and have a lot of fun.

HotHatch days have always made me wary about them. I think they seem to be improving though compared to years and years ago.

For me the culprit was the white car overtaking the in-lapping (?) silver one at the chicane. That pushes the silver car into taking the second half of the chicane way too tight and so it gets in the way of the following pack (the red car should've spotted that earlier).

Easy to say in hindsight of course.

Did the fact the guy had already almost gone up the arse of the civic not tell him something was gonna go wrong soon? They were all far too close anyway. Is this partially why overtaking is now restricted to three places? Or is that just something trackscotland do?

I think most track events run the same rules, I know that SIDC days and the old hot marques days are the same.
Not entirely sure about dreadnought and GMSC days, it's been a while since I've done one of them so can't say for definite, but I think they just allow overtaking on the straights too

I don't see the problem with overtaking in other places, so long as it's made clear in the briefing and done sensibly and with the consent of the passed car.
As already said though, there is no real need for it on a trackday - it's not a race

I like watching them for comedy but would never take part.

I cant take my cars on Hot Marques though so Knockhill have no products available for me apart from test days. I have to attend private track days. Not got a problem with that but just mean they don't cater for all.

Yeah...they do seem to have a gap in what they offer, but I suppose that is good for us Laughing

Just to bring this back to the track day can anyone tell me how to book a specific day? I've bought track time for what I assumed was the track day next week but all I have us a receipt for payment. Do I have to tell knockhill which one I want to attend?

You guys make it so much clearer!!

It really isn't that bad.....I would imagine the people in the vid are all of the same mindset 'I'm not letting him past' or 'I'm getting passed him'

If you want to find/make your own space you can, and you can easily back off and let people passed if you are a bit concerned about their driving/proximity to you

I don't see the big deal if you let someone passed. It's not a competition it's just a chance to drive your track/road car and see how it copes. I'm one of the most competitive people out there but not in a trackday.

I got passed atleast 40 times the last TS trackday I was at haha Wink

I've been to a lot of knockhill track days over the last year and have never had any problems although some of the guy's do get quite competitive. As long as you get over to the right at the first safest oportuinity they'll pass and you can be left with good space to drive at your own pace and enjoy yourself.
I'll be at next Sunday's track day (blue impreza) driving at my own pace and enjoying it as much as everyone else (until i break down again Crying or Very sad )

they are not going to asda they are on as race track alright they are not

racing but each other, but this is what make's track days at khill more

exciting than driving round yourself and car in front just moving over if you

are faster than them .

You are not racing on a trackday but and you will on most occasions be black flagged if found to do so. At the end of the day we all want to have fun with our cars on track but I'm sure all want to get their car home in one piece at the end of it!

If you want to go for competitive racing then go racing.
