I just thought it might be interesting to see who and why some people are NOT going to do/try Time Attack 2011 this year.
Don't just add your name to list to make it look bigger ,genuine answers please . Even if you were going to try it as a "One Hit Wonder" as we were, to see how you would compare against some of the other competitors . We were thinking of a few events this year but not the whole championship BUT might have for next year.

We're not because -

Car- Peugeot 106

No1 reason is -We can't because the smallest tyre size listed is STILL too big !
2/ tyre type/compound looks scarey
3/ Class structure isn't that good - FWD Class has turbo's and Superchargers only leaving the upto 3.0 ltr N/A class !! ,,,not ideal either

Not doing it, purely because of the tyre situation. We might have considered it if it was a one tyre series like it was last year, but we will be at an unfair disadvantage running the tyres we are forced to.

Nope would of loved to give Knockhill a go though just for some fun.

1/ Car wouldn't be to time attack regs by then
2/ I don't have the track experience Embarassed

All though may consider a trip to Holland for there time attack. It seems to be alot more relaxed in rules and regs etc... and would be a nice summer holiday Very Happy .

I think this post is for those who were going to until the Pirelli debacle. Pulling out because your car isnt ready isnt TA/Pirelli's fault Laughing

Thought as much Very Happy .

Should change it to are you taken part or not because of the pirelli tyres.

On the plus side you might all get a free pirelli calander if you take part Wink

Many shows etc... Get ruined when they become mainstream and people can make money out of it...

Enough jibbering from me back on topic..

After taking a year out to build the new car. Sierra xr4x4, cosworth engine with the plan of running 400+bhp we will now Not be doing the full season as we would have to use the nero's.

We have spent the last year working with Caparo AP Braking who have been developing a set of brakes for our car which even took into consideration the usage of the car and the type of tyres we use.

1. Would have to run neros
2. Not a level playing field

I've emailed the T/A scrut regarding a suitable tyre for my 106.

I've fitted a long range tank to my car and am buying a taller FD for my gearbox at considerable expense but due to the tyre change it looks like pirelli don't offer a suitable size tyre for my car in the tyre type required to run in T/A anyway. WTF?!

And as Garry mentioned, the class structure Doesn't cater for n/a hot hatch type cars.

I don't think its that ,,,more like its been a class thats been forgotten about since Time Attack started in this country. The class structure probably hasn't been looked at for a while .
But its a way to get folk started in the championship ! Get the Hot -hatches going !
