That is an excellent video, was interested in the 2 - 3 secs a lap quicker than BTCC cars. That car is obviously completely sorted and with a race driver at the wheel, 900bhp and 4wd. What makes touring cars so fast, think they are 300bhp and FWD. Must be something in the regs that makes the difference, are they space framed?

Think BTCC must be about 53s now at knockie too, which is mighty quick?

Dunc.

The fact that the Touring cars run no expense spared slicks is the main difference. 888's are a major limiting factor with that much power.
Also space framed as you say, so lighter, Pro drivers, mega bucks suspension etc etc

Most of the time attack cars started out as fettled road cars, some are more fettled now than others!

TA cars have run 51's at Knockhill for the last few years Smile

club drivers in the low 54's too Neutral

54.073 is the Club Class record at KH

Ties in with the 2/3 seconds stated on the vid then, do you think they mean R888's as slicks in the vid then? Because they state about the same time on road tyres and 2/3 secs on slicks. Sounds like the touring cars are fast for the reason you state, mainly budget - it all seems to come down to that Smile

Full kudos to be quicker than the touring cars imo Cool

Plus it's easy to forget how much 2-3 secs is at the sharp end, not easy come by.

dont think I've driven it round KH in the dry, but it was doing 60's with about 280bhp and naff susp, standard brakes etc.

I'd be dissapointed not to get a 57-58sec of somesort. I have about 385bhp-400bhp

BTCC cars in the 53's round Knockhill with front wheel drive and 2.0 n/a engines.

Ok even with slicks,
but what was the best T/A 2.0 n/a fwd time from last year.

Every now and again, you see ex-1990's super touring cars (even quicker) up for sale for a lot less than some are paying to build cars.
