Coaching was fantastic. Rory picked up where a lot of time could be gained by earlier corner entry and using exit kerbs. Something I need to work on.
Rory did 57.2 after one lap and thought he could get about 56 after 5. He also was very helpful about car. Great value and another hour to go later in the season. |

I'm sure I told you he'd do a 57 in it Good to see though, and I think thats prob the biggest help - seeing what the car can really do. 4wd controller helping with the understeer? _________________ Impreza Race Car - SLS/SMRC

Yes to your 1st, second and 3rd points. Virtually no understeer or oversteer in dry but oversteer in wet. Rory thought car was very well balanced. That comment is a great help too. It's a pity there isn't an adjustable one to switch to fwd in wet--another point you mentioned months ago. Wow-- I'll save my money next time and just ask you. You know you're going to get pestered now |

The car is very much like out old GTR. Heavy 4wd, but with a key difference.... it was very RWD biased compared to the FWD bias of the TT. Same principles with the controller but we used it to tame the rear rather than reduce the understeer.
Impreza runs its centre diff through the ECU and is mapable - so you can put in a 'wet' map for instance. My white one had full on RWD banzai mode, auto (ECU) and a little dial to adjust f/r torque as you go. ECU controlled is the best way to go... light throttle = no extra power to front. Full Throttle at low speeds = 50/50split to give a nice 4wd drift to control the rear from slip[ping out too much.
If you dont mind saying, what geometry is the car running? I know with it being used on road as well as track it prob wont be too racey. _________________ Impreza Race Car - SLS/SMRC

It is actually pretty horrible now on road due to tyre walls. Can't remember geometry but I added camber at rear and softened arb at rear after last time I saw you. I spun off horribly with snap overseer albeit in the wet with semi slicks. Rory reckoned understeer nearly gone and no oversteer- in the dry |

firming up the Rear ARB for dry track use would help turn in further, but... as you noticed.... maybe make it a bit twitchy in the wet.
Those Dunlops are great after a few laps, but not great in wet. Are you planning to use them for SLS? I think they may be list 1C now. _________________ Impreza Race Car - SLS/SMRC

I may go back to Nankangs as they are good after one lap and better in the wet. Not as good after a few dry laps though. |

I think 888R's take that crown unless you're lucky enough to be able to use one of the V70/00 sizes left on 1B. _________________ MD Racing

once you are done with the Nankangs, try Toyo 888.
Good in wet, good after 1 lap - better than Nankangs _________________ Impreza Race Car - SLS/SMRC

Finally broke the sub 60 barrier this week,
Megane RS250, Harrys Lap timer and video. 59.3
Another second to come off that easily, Next goal is to get into the 57's with some fresh tyres and a few other tweaks.
