Hi all,

Have just booked the Saxo on to its first non-Knockhill track day down at Donington - and I believe there's a drive by noise limit of 95db.

I've never had to give consideration to noise limits before, so what does 95db equate to? Is that quite generous and therefore to be ignored, or is it something I should be giving consideration to?

Cars not exactly 'quiet' - but at the same time, its not what i'd call garishly loud either.

Where can I even get a drive by test done?

Cheers Smile

Normally there will be 2 noise limits: static and drive by. (a quick Google brings up this document: http://www.donington-park.co.uk/download/clientfiles/files/NMP%20Version%201_5_%20Nov%206%202014.pdf and that says a 108dB static)

The drive by one can be different due to a few different factors (how far away is the guy doing the test etc)

As for getting a test done, you can get phone apps which can measure the dB level, they are a bit roughneck but will at least give you an idea of what you are dealing with.

Cheers. From what I can see the static test only applies to race days / testing though.

For track days, I think it falls under Appendix E of that document, so only the drive by test.

Donny are strict because their neighbours have been kicking up hell for some time now, despite being under the runway flight path for East Midlands.

If it would pass static it's likely it would also pass drive by, so download an app for your phone and try it out.

Mine didn't have any difficulty last year with it being used on a trackday. If you think it'll be borderline give us a shout, we bought a couple of insert silencers at the time and never used them. fcuk knows where they are now right enough, but they'll be somewhere!

When you stand on the pit wall at donnington there are flights taking off right over head, noise limits seem pretty pointless

NA cars should be fine if they pass a static test... its the turbo cars that make a racket once boost is introduced.

We got booted off Donnington for drive by noise lol
